Time Tracking

Record hours with a timer or by hand, and bill them

Record time against projects and tasks with a live timer or by entering it manually. Mark time billable or not, and use it as the basis for invoice line items.

Using the Timer

  1. Open the Track Time timer from the top bar.
  2. Pick a project and a task type (both required), and optionally a specific task and description.
  3. Click Start Timer. The elapsed time runs live.
  4. Pause, Resume, or Stop to save the entry.

Tip

Start the timer from a project page and the project is preselected, so you only pick a task type and go.

Adding Time Manually

  1. On the Time page, click Add Entry.
  2. Choose Duration (enter hours and minutes) or Time Range (pick start and end).
  3. Set the date, project, and task type, and add a description if you like.
  4. Save the entry.

Time Entry Fields

  • Project and optional Task
  • Task type - The kind of work (Development, Design, Meeting, Research, Support, and more)
  • Description - What you did
  • Duration or start and end times
  • Date
  • Billable - On or off, defaulting from the project's billing type

Billable Time & Rates

Each entry is billable or non-billable. Rates come from the project's billable rate or a member's default rate. Billable time is what you draw on when building an invoice.

Viewing & Managing Time

The Time page has two views:

  • Day - A single day with a week navigator showing daily and weekly totals
  • All - Every entry, in a table

Filter by date range, task type, billable status, or running state, and see totals for the current view. Click an entry to edit it, or select several to delete in bulk.

Plan & Access

Workspace guests can't track time. If a project allows it, guests can see the time logged on tasks they have access to.
