Slack

Collaborate with your team and agents in Slack

The Slack integration connects your workspace to a Slack team. Agents can post to channels, DM members, and respond to @mentions. Members can run Helm slash commands from anywhere in Slack.

Setup

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack
  2. Click Connect and authorize the Helm Slack app
  3. Link your Slack user to your Helm account for DMs and mentions

Channel Agents

A workspace admin runs /helm invite "Agent Name" "Project Name" in a channel to add an agent. The agent then responds when @mentioned in that channel, scoped to the project you chose.

DMs

Designate one agent as the DM agent per workspace. DMs to the Helm bot route to that agent. The DM agent has full workspace context and can message teammates or post to channels on your behalf.

Slash Commands

  • /helm help - Show all commands
  • /helm tasks - Your assigned tasks (add a project name to filter)
  • /helm projects - Your active projects
  • /helm time - Today's time entries
  • /helm log 1.5 Client meeting - Log time
  • /helm create Task title - Create a task
  • /helm invite / /helm remove / /helm agents - Manage channel agents

Project Notifications

From a project's notification settings, post task events (added, status changed, comments) to a Slack channel you choose. See Notifications.

Private Channels

The bot joins public channels automatically. For a private channel, a member must add the Helm app to it first.

Plan Availability

Slack is included on every plan. See the pricing page.
