Workspaces
Understanding workspaces and multi-tenant organization
A workspace is your dedicated environment in Helm where your entire business operates. Each workspace is completely isolated, meaning your data, team members, and settings are separate from other organizations using Helm.
What's in a Workspace
Your workspace contains everything related to your business:
- Accounts - Your clients and customer organizations
- Contacts - Individual people you work with
- Projects - Work you're doing for clients
- Tasks - Individual items of work within projects
- Time Entries - Tracked time for billing
- Invoices & Estimates - Billing documents
- Documents - Internal notes and client-facing content
- Team, agents & settings - The people, AI staff, and configuration for your organization
Workspace URL
Each workspace has a unique slug, and your workspace lives at app.gethelm.ai/your-slug. You can edit the slug in workspace settings; it must be lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, and a set of reserved words (like app, api, and admin) can't be used.
Multiple Workspaces
You can belong to or own more than one workspace. Switch between them with the workspace switcher in the top bar, which also has a Create New Workspaceoption. This is handy for consultants and contractors who work across organizations.
Workspace Settings
Owners and admins manage the workspace from Settings:
- General - Name, company name, slug, address, VAT ID, and invoice/estimate starting numbers
- Users & Roles - Members and guests (see Roles & Permissions)
- Modules - Turn features on or off (see Modules)
- Branding - Logo and appearance
- Billing - Plan, payment, and AI usage
- Import & Export - Move data in and out
Billing & Closing
Each workspace has its own subscription, so plans and billing are per workspace, not per person. An owner can close a workspace from General settings, which cancels billing at the end of the period and hides it from members while preserving the data. See Plans & Pricing.
